Male-led funk often has a preponderance of James Brown impersonators - complete with grunts and screams - the tune doesn't go completely, but a whole album of that is not ideal for home listening.

The sisters however give us more variety, more songs and perhaps, more soul. Like the Funk Soul Sisters compilation to which this is a follow-up, this gathers 20 obscure woman-sung tracks (a couple of them previously unreleased) from that time in the late '60s and early '70s when soul was changing into funk.

With a desire to fill our shelves with more slinky and funky records, the soul sisters return to show us all how to have a good time.
