So you know, the 'Byrd' part of the name is due to these guys being understudies of the cross-over jazz trumpeter, Donald Byrd.

The Blackbyrds take the Donald Byrd direction of the mid seventies and make it chart and ear friendly. Donald Byrd is a great genius whose music is timeless. The vibe & groove here are strong.

Although they had a limited run, you need to put these boys in the Kool and the Gang, Tower of Power range without apology.

Extremely thick funk album for funkie junkies out there.
